A CTP: An Efficient, Robust, and Reliable Collection Tree Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks

چکیده
Collection is a core building block for many sensor network applications. In its simplest use, collection provides an unreliable, datagram routing service that deployments use to gather data [Werner-Allen et al. 2006; Mainwaring et al. 2002; Tolle et al. 2005]. A natural and efficient way to implement collection is by using a tree topology rooted at one or more collection points. Such trees are themselves building blocks for other types of protocols. Tree-based collection protocols provide the topology underlying most point-to-point routing protocols, such as BVR [Fonseca et al. 2005], PathDCS [Ee et al. 2006], and S4 [Mao et al. 2007] as well as transport protocols such as IFRC [Rangwala et al. 2006], RCRT [Paek and Govindan 2007], Flush [Kim et al. 2007], and Koala [Musaloiu-E. et al. 2008]. This paper describes the design and evaluation of a collection protocol that can simultaneously achieve four goals:

The Collection Tree Protocol for the Castalia Wireless Sensor Networks Simulator
The Collection Tree Protocol (CTP) is a well-know protocol that provides a reliable collection service for wireless sensor networks. In this report, we describe our implementation of CTP for the version 3.0 of the Castalia wireless sensor networks simulator. Besides being a reference for researchers interested in experimenting with CTP in Castalia, this report also provides a throughout descrip...
متن کاملAn efficient symmetric polynomial-based key establishment protocol for wireless sensor networks
An essential requirement for providing secure services in wireless sensor networks is the ability to establish pairwise keys among sensors. Due to resource constraints on the sensors, the key establishment scheme should not create significant overhead. To date, several key establishment schemes have been proposed. Some of these have appropriate connectivity and resistance against key exposure, ...
متن کاملQuasi Random Deployment Strategy for Reliable Communication Backbones in Wireless Sensor Networks
Topology construction and topology maintenance are significant sub-problems of topology control. Spanning tree based algorithms for topology control are basically transmission range based type construction algorithms. The construction of an effective backbone, however, is indirectly related to the placement of nodes. Also, the dependence of network reliability on the communication path undertak...
متن کاملA Reliable Data Collection Protocol Based on Erasure-Resilient Code in Asymmetric Wireless Sensor Networks
This paper presents RECPE, a reliable collection protocol for aggregating data packets from all the sensor nodes to the sink in a large-scale WSN (wireless sensor network). Unlike some well-known reliable data collection protocols such as CTP (Collection Tree Protocol) that uses ETX (expected transmission count) as the routing metric, RECPE exploits ETF (expected transmission count over forward...
متن کاملAn Energy Efficient Clustering Method using Bat Algorithm and Mobile Sink in Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of sensor nodes with limited energy. Energy efficiency is an important issue in WSNs as the sensor nodes are deployed in rugged and non-care areas and consume a lot of energy to send data to the central station or sink if they want to communicate directly with the sink. Recently, the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol is employed as a low-power, low-cost, and low rat...
متن کاملAn Efficient Cluster Head Selection Algorithm for Wireless Sensor Networks Using Fuzzy Inference Systems
An efficient cluster head selection algorithm in wireless sensor networks is proposed in this paper. The implementation of the proposed algorithm can improve energy which allows the structured representation of a network topology. According to the residual energy, number of the neighbors, and the centrality of each node, the algorithm uses Fuzzy Inference Systems to select cluster head. The alg...
